Crowne Plaza opens luxury bathhouse in NSW - luxury bathhouse
Crowne Plaza Hawkesbury Valley is located 60 minutes from Sydney CBD.

Crowne Plaza Hawkesbury Valley has introduced NSW’s first luxury bathhouse, positioning the resort as a premium wellness destination. The Vela Spa and Bathhouse, which officially opened recently, offers a range of therapies, wellness dining, and an interactive retail environment, just 60 minutes from Sydney CBD.

General Manager Stephen Wills discussed the new offering, citing the growing interest in wellness experiences in Australia. According to Wills, Australians are placing greater value on experiences that support both physical and mental wellbeing, seeking opportunities to disconnect from everyday pressures and reconnect with themselves.

The vision behind Vela was to create a premium wellness destination that blends nature, relaxation, and luxury in a uniquely Hawkesbury setting. Wills explained that Vela aims to offer guests an immersive escape where they can slow down, restore, and focus on their wellbeing, whether staying overnight or visiting for the day.

Wellness tourism is a significant part of Crowne Plaza Hawkesbury Valley’s long-term strategy, as travel is no longer just about accommodation, but about experiences that enhance wellbeing. Vela allows the hotel to broaden its offering, attract new markets, and position itself as a leading wellness destination in the region.

Vela also strengthens the hotel‘s appeal to both leisure guests and corporate travelers looking to incorporate wellness into their stay. The hotel’s former spa, Villa Thalgo, was impacted by repeated flooding in the Hawkesbury region, but this challenge led to the opportunity to reimagine the space and create something better.

Wills expects strong interest in Vela from both hotel guests and local residents, given the growing demand for wellness experiences in tourism. The response leading up to the opening has been encouraging, and Wills believes Vela will become a key driver of visitation, length of stay, and guest engagement over the next 12 months.

The hotel also has a loyal client base from Villa Thalgo, who have been eagerly awaiting the return of the spa offering. Wills expressed excitement about welcoming these guests back and delivering something special, with the anticipation and feedback from past guests giving the hotel great confidence that Vela will establish itself as a premier wellness destination.
