Hotels automate rooms with new smart tech partnership - hotels automate rooms
With almost 50 years of industry experience and its recent integration into the GEWISS Group, VDA Telkonet further solidifies its role within a cohesive technological ecosystem.

VDA Telkonet and Cloudbeds have formed a strategic alliance to combine smart room automation with cloud-based hospitality management systems, establishing a direct connection between guestroom controls and property operations. The collaboration enables hotels to automate room settings, such as lighting, temperature adjustments, and access permissions, based on real-time check-in data from Cloudbeds’ property management platform.

When a guest is assigned to a room, the system will automatically configure predefined preferences, eliminating the need for manual coordination between front-desk staff and in-room technology. This integration delivers three primary benefits:

  • Instant room readiness: Check-in and assignment updates will trigger adjustments to welcome lighting, climate control, and keypad access codes.
  • Efficient staff workflows: Door access permissions and room status updates will sync seamlessly with Cloudbeds, reducing repetitive administrative tasks for employees.
  • Smart energy management: Occupancy data will dynamically regulate heating, cooling, and lighting to maintain guest comfort while minimizing power consumption.

Sebastien Leitner, Cloudbeds’ Vice President of Partnerships, stated that the partnership addresses hoteliers’ demand for flexible yet interconnected technology solutions. The integration aligns with Cloudbeds’ mission to provide a unified platform that supports properties of all scales, from independent hotels to large multi-property portfolios, with tens of thousands of properties in over 150 countries already relying on its capabilities.

Ferose Ahamed, VDA Telkonet’s Global Solution Proposition Manager, noted that the company’s extensive experience in integrating disparate technologies will strengthen this collaboration. With almost 50 years of industry experience and its recent integration into the GEWISS Group, VDA Telkonet further solidifies its role within a cohesive technological ecosystem. The company’s track record includes over 1 million smart rooms deployed globally, ensuring seamless interoperability for participating properties. The partnership’s goal is to streamline hospitality operations by unifying guestroom intelligence with broader property management systems, reinforcing VDA Telkonet’s long-standing commitment to making different technologies work together.

Technical certification for the integrated system is currently in progress, with a full commercial launch scheduled for the first quarter of 2027. Prospective hoteliers can contact their regional VDA Telkonet representative for early adoption opportunities or detailed technical specifications.
