Flying hotel offers ultra-luxury global expeditions - flying hotel
Abercrombie & Kent’s first flying hotel expedition departs February 4, 2027, aboard a chartered Boeing 757 with 50 fully lie-flat seats.

A private jet that operates as a five-star hotel will launch global trips in 2027, becoming the first commercial venture of its kind. Abercrombie & Kent has revealed four sky-based journeys aboard a chartered Boeing 757, each offering 50 fully lie-flat seats and bespoke experiences tailored to affluent travelers. The initiative reimagines air travel as a premium adventure rather than a necessary transit step.

The first journey, Africa: Across a Continent by Private Jet, departs February 4 and concludes February 25, 2027, priced at $169,500. Over 22 days, participants will visit Carthage’s ancient ruins, engage with rescued elephants in Kenya, and observe primates in Rwanda. A standout moment includes a meeting with a former prison guard of Nelson Mandela, adding historical depth to the expedition.

Two additional trips, Epic Islands and Landscapes in May and Wild Wonders in September, share a $189,500 price tag. The former combines a Galapagos yacht stay, a hot-air balloon flight over the Serengeti, and vintage Alfa Romeo drives through Sicily. The latter explores eight distinct ecosystems, featuring Tasmanian wildlife encounters, Komodo dragon sightings, and coral reef kayaking in the Seychelles. Rami Girgis, the jet’s director, highlights that repeat guests are drawn to the exclusive access these itineraries provide.

The Boeing 757 is equipped with full hotel amenities, including lie-flat seating, to ensure a seamless travel experience. Unlike traditional flights, this concept eliminates airports, immigration lines, and ground transfers, allowing direct transitions between destinations. The jet’s flexibility even accommodates last-minute additions, such as a helicopter tour over Victoria Falls, without disrupting schedules.

A fourth itinerary, Hidden Horizons with Geoffrey Kent, runs from October 14 to November 8, 2027, for $198,500. Led by Abercrombie & Kent’s founder, it focuses on lesser-known destinations, including a private audience with Ghana’s Ashanti king, attendance at Bulgaria’s Kukeri festival, and explorations of Kazakhstan. Kent’s involvement adds a personalized touch, merging cultural immersion with logistical convenience.

These journeys reflect a growing trend in ultra-luxury travel, where the emphasis shifts from transit to experience. By removing layovers and crowds, the jet transforms travel into an event in itself. The highest-priced trip, Kent’s, suggests that customization, not just exclusivity, drives demand among this clientele.
