The boutique hotel brand The PIG is set to open a new location in Tunbridge Wells, following its acquisition of The Tunbridge Wells Hotel on The Pantiles historic promenade in Kent.

The 18th-century, Grade II-listed Georgian building, which came to market in November 2025 with a guide price of £2.7 million, features 20 bedrooms, a bar and restaurant with a capacity for 80 people, and a function suite that can seat 50 guests. Subject to a paving license, an external seating area could accommodate an additional 90 covers.

This acquisition comes after The PIG’s departure from its Groombridge Place property, also in Tunbridge Wells, due to planning complexities. In a statement, The PIG expressed its enthusiasm for the new location, saying, Many will know that there had been hopes to bring The PIG to Groombridge Place. Whilst that wasn’t meant to be, the group couldn’t quite shake the feeling that this corner of Kent still had a place in their story.

The brand aims to create a space that caters to various needs, from a quick coffee stop to a long lunch or an evening out with friends. The PIG’s vision is to offer a versatile and welcoming environment, where guests can dine, drink, and even stay the night if the occasion calls for it.

The PIG plans to undertake a refurbishment of the property, repositioning it as a town-center boutique hotel while maintaining its focus on local food and beverage sourcing. This move allows the brand to continue its expansion strategy in Kent, despite the previous setback at Groombridge Place.
